The Fairbanks Aircraft
The decommissioned Beech-18 adorned Davis Road in Fairbanks, Alaska, for years in its original paint scheme. In June 2024, it was transformed into a work of art that artistically captures Alaska’s natural forces in two different designs by the artist AKG (ANN-KRISTIN GÖTZ). The graffiti and fine-line elements are inspired by the Nordic-Arctic winter night and the hot summer days in the Interior.
Fairbanks is particularly exposed to extreme weather conditions in winter, making the aircraft itself a symbol of humanity’s attempt to control the power of nature with technology. The artwork on the plane, in turn, depicts nature’s reclaiming of human technology through nature-inspired motifs.
The owner of the aircraft, Sven from Aviation Expedition, is also part of the overall artwork. Due to his aviation activities and dedication to aviation, the aircraft retained its original designation. The inscription is dedicated to him.
