In the south of the Karaköy district by the water are the neighbourhoods of Bereketzade, Emekyemez and Azapkapı, the Arab quarter with the Arap Cami Mosque. Actually the whole city is a bazaar, but especially here you can find countless handcraft shops, numerous mechanics, little workshops and small technical goods stores. In one you can buy drills, in the other you get cables of all sizes and in the next you can buy screws of different shapes, the many shops next to each other are practically the size of a garage. Those neighborhoods are already covered in graffiti from top to bottom, but when the shops close, even more cool works appear on the shutters. There are thousands of graffiti, so it makes little sense to put a marker for each individual work on the map. We have therefore created this overpage here for all works in this area sorted alphabetically by artist and on the map you find markers for little areas where we have grouped the alleys into sections. If you also have photos from Istanbul graffiti and urban art, you can send them to info@vagabundler.com and we will add them to the archive.
