Porto Cristo, also called Port de Manacor or Es Port, is a small, idyllic coastal town on the Spanish Balearic island of Mallorca with around 7,500 inhabitants. An interesting and creative project in the streets of the city is CARRERÓ DE L’ART or CALLEJÓN DEL ARTE, which shows many colorful and creative works by local and international artists in public spaces. This open air exhibition is organized by the collective and art gallery MARGARITA. News about recently created murals can be found on their website. Memory to my sister Lucia – LEO VIGILDO
The work of art is part of the project CARRERÓ DE L’ART and measuring 1.90 meters by 1.30 meters it shows the scenery of the fishing town with typical local elements. For the work, the painter used not only acrylic paints, but also sand from the beach and a real fishing net. The score presented quotes the song “Lucía” by JOAN MANUEL SERRAT and is dedicated to his sister with the same name who died in January 2022.
