Durban is located in the coastal province of KwaZulu-Natal and, with a population of 3.7 million, is the third largest city in South Africa after Johannesburg and Cape Town. Overall, the metropolis is one of the fastest growing cities in the world. The city was founded in 1835 under the name Port Natal and the streets show African, Indian and colonial influences in the architecture and cityscape. Also worth seeing are the coastal promenade, the uShaka Marine World, the huge botanical garden and the Moses Mabhida Stadium, which was also one of the venues for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
