(0) Majestic scenography of the old films
The installation recalls the majestic scenography of the old films. Twenty actors for 20 films plus 1, that is the visitor who confronts these sometimes unknown faces. Made up of 20 pillars covered with a mirroring stainless steel sheet ‘The faces of the cinema’ creates a link between the city, the films and the spectator who, walking, walks through Piazza Castello accompanied by the protagonists of some of the most important cinematographic films shot in turin. Walking inside the colonnade, a system of timed audio speakers hidden inside the pillars and activated by the passage of users, will reproduce, element after element, the most famous songs extrapolated from the film soundtracks. The installation is totally accessible: the lack of architectural barriers means that everyone can access the entire route, and the sound devices allow blind users to interact with the workstation. The installation was made by Fargo Film with the conception and design by Studio Loredana Iacopino Architettura.
This is the first stage of a ‘cinematographic’ journey which, from January 2020, will also involve the look of the city. In fact, in the strategic points of the city, supports with a strong visual and iconographic impact will be set up for an immersive and suggestive welcome in a ‘cinema friendly’ Turin. In this way, 20 ‘cinematically’ significant places such as squares and buildings in the city center will be the stages to retrace the history of Turin’s cinema through the 20 most significant films. Passers-by with the support of paper and digital maps or through tourist guides will be able to visit the city locations and the ‘Masters’ who made their films in those places. – TORINO CITTÁ DEL CINEMA 2020
