CHILE: Streetart Angol – Huequén – San Francisco 120

The main wall has three icons of the counter culture, portrayed in the streets of Angol. John Lennon and his Imagine; Bob Marley, Jamaica, reggae and Rastafarian spirituality; and finally, Nelson Mandela and his fight against apartheid.

However, starting from the left, there is unfinished graffiti depicting „Don Ramón y El Chavo del 8“, Latin American TV characters from the 1980’s. Next there is a white metal door but with peeling paint. Unfortunately, there is no trace of the author(s) anywhere.

Next is the main mural, first from the left, the silhouette of John Lennon and his unmistakable round glasses. Above this figure is the word IMAGINE as if it were Lennon’s brain.

Bob Marley’s graffiti is the largest and the only one with colors. It highlights the Jamaican flag, the marijuana leaf, the words Rasta and Bob Marley.

Finally, the figure of Mandela appears in black and white along with the year of his birth and the year of his death. The smile and hope that Mandela inspired is very well reflected in the mural.

In some photos the grass is green and overgrown; while in the others it is dry and dusty. The years go by and this mural is a witness to the cycle of life.
