Food Sovereignty
This mural created by PRI is thanks to the collaboration between the Nahuelbuta Free Natural Seeds Network and the Municipal Cultural Corporation of Angol. This initiative is organized by citizens of Angol and its surroundings, together with organizations that seek to raise awareness about caring for nature.
The mural begins on the left side with a head that shows the influence of the BPR (Ramona Parra Brigade) on PRI’s work, which was the former crew she was part of. The next part of the artwork are elements of the flora and fauna of Araucanía, followed by a woman that delicately receives in her hands the fruits of the generous nature of this side of Chile.
Then a man holds up a sign that says “Soberanía Alimentaria” (Food Sovereignty) adorned with more fruits and vegetables of the countryside that surround Angol. Intelligently, between the woman and the man appears the city they occupy, but on both sides of them only elements of nature are drawn.
The Chile Free Natural Seeds Network is made up of a group of people with a common interest in seeds free of genetic modification, intellectual property and borders, for organic crops, biodiversity, peasant knowledge and feelings, whose purpose is to rescue the agricultural diversity and associated cultural traditions.
