The Boy
The Milton Park neighborhood, part of Le Plateau Mont-Royal borough, is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Montreal. The area has been inhabited since 1783. The neighborhood has concentrated the jewish community for decades. In the 70’s, the residents of Milton Park mobilized and fought against a vast urban renewal project, which in time would have driven out of the neighborhood a population of middle and low incomes while destroying both architectural entities in recognized heritage character. Ultimately, this citizen mobilisation contributed to the consolidation of housing cooperatives in Milton Park. The district now concentrates one of the largest grouping of coocpratives in Montreal in addition to being the ghetto of McGill University students. A neighborhood with real good vibes! As well there is the fabulous Microbrasserie Benelux, a very nice place for a craft beer! – Patrice Loranger.
