Résonance
Let’s talk about the Latin Quarter of Montreal. The name of the district comes from the fact that the University of Montreal was installed there in the 20th century. It then moved to the foothills of Mount Royal, but was replaced in the 1960s by the University of Quebec in Montreal (UQaM). This means that the district is still inhabited and frequented by many students and young people. The district is very French-speaking and especially Saint-Denis Street where the mural is located, is known for its bars and drinking establishments. It is a hotspot for French-speaking nightlife in Montreal.
Three excellent microbreweries that make and serve excellent craft beers are located here. Le Cheval Blanc on Ontario Street occupies the premises of an old tavern. Seems like nothing has changed in 100 years. Regular customers for real good beers at a reasonable price. One of my favorites is Le Cheval Blanc. As well there is L’Amère à boire on Saint-Denis Street, which is specialized in beers of Eastern European inspiration. Very nice place. Le Saint-Bock, still on Saint-Denis Street, is a beer mecca. The place’s craft beers are average, but craft beers invited from other Quebec microbreweries are always on the menu and the selection of beers imported from all over the world is just amazing. You have to go for a beer in one of these microbreweries to feel and appreciate the student vibes of the Latin Quarter! – Patrice Loranger
