Tribute to Vojo Dimitrijević

Vojo Dimitrijević was born on 20th May 1910 in Sarajevo. He is considered one of the most important painters of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 20th century and is regarded as a co-founder of the country’s modern art. His works evolved from socially critical painting to modern and experimental forms of expression. He was also a co-founder of the artists’ association Collegium Artisticum and played a key role in establishing art education in Sarajevo. He died on 12th August 1980, in Sarajevo.

Tribute to Mica Todorović

Mica Todorović was born on 16th December 1900 in Sarajevo and died there on 10th October 1981. She is considered one of the most important female painters in Bosnia and Herzegovina and was a co-founder of the Association of Fine Artists of Bosnia and Herzegovina. After World War II, she served as a professor at the School of Applied Arts in Sarajevo and became the first woman to be elected a full member of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The years 1897–1981 are engraved on the bust; however, an older and possibly incorrect date was used. Today, December 16, 1900, is considered the best-documented date of her birth.

Tribute to Daniel Ozmo

Daniel Ozmo was born on 14th March 1912, in Olovo. The Bosnian-Jewish painter and graphic artist was one of the most important figures in his country’s modern art scene and was a co-founder of the artists’ group Mladi (“The Young”) in Sarajevo. In his works, he explored the lives of Sephardic Jews as well as social issues. During World War II, he was arrested, deported to the Jasenovac concentration camp, and murdered there on 5th September 1942.
