CHILE: Streetart Angol – Julio Sepúlveda 649 – EXEQUIEL

This is a curious case, since the image of the Mapuche woman and all the symbols of her culture are made by a construction worker and not by a graffiti artist. In the second photo, you can see the jars of paints and paint brushes instead of the spray used by graffiti artists.

This construction worker’s name is Exequiel. He told me that this job of painting the gate was one more of those he had to do in that house. He also carried out electrical and water pipe work, among others.

The image shows the Mapuche woman singing with her earrings and silver pendant made for ceremonies. On the left side, the Mapuche flag and on the right side, the sacred tree called Araucaria Araucana or Pehuen (in Mapudungun, the native language of the Mapuches).
