For many years, Vang Vieng was known as the ultimate party location with raves in the jungle and legendary tubing, where you float down the Nam Song River from one bar to the next in an inflated car tire tube. Things have quietened down a bit in the town now, as it became too wild at some point and there were more and more accidents. But you can still enjoy the colorful nightlife and tubing is still offered, just not to the same extent as before. Regardless, the town is a good starting point for activities in the Karst Mountains, a fantastically beautiful natural landscape. You can rent bikes, scooters, or even quads to get to the respective locations faster. However, you still have to climb up to the peaks and viewpoints or down into the caves yourself. For fans of urban art, the place also has a lot to offer. You can find graffiti in the streets, and many of the bars, cafés, and lounges are decorated with urban art.
