BOSNIA-HERZEGOVINA: Streetart Sarajevo – Mejtaš – Zelenih Beretki 3 – Big Size Chess Ground

Big Size Chess Ground

To the west of the Saborna Crkva Rođenja Presvete Bogorodice, known in English as the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, there is a small park. In addition to the green spaces, statues, and benches, there is also a small area right next to the church wall, about the size of a slightly larger chessboard. You need both hands to move the pieces; it’s a bit more involved in body movement than just playing at a table. At the same time, it’s more fun and entertaining. This spot is a clever playground for young and old alike. Maybe not directly an urban artwork, but the field is painted on the ground, there are big figures like statues, and it works as a meeting point for playing smart games.
