„Shedding the Veils“ – „Ukraine“
The lights of a police vehicle illuminate a roadside field of sunflowers as servicemen arrive to assess the aftermath of a collision between a civilian and a soldier after curfew hours in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine, July 2022. NARIMAN EL-MOFTY: „The sunflowers became a symbol of my time in Ukraine. They lined roads that carried us through some of the war’s darkest moments, bringing an unexpected soft- ness to a landscape marked by violence. No matter how much devastation surrounded them, they continued to stand tall-bright, fragile, and enduring.“ – WARM Foundation
