The Montreal Metro comprises 68 stations and serves approximately 1.4 million bus and train rides daily. The first 20 stations were inaugurated on October 14th in 1966 and the network, including the first three lines, was launched the following spring. One million people used the metro on its first weekend of operation. Since then, the complex has continued to expand, but in addition to providing transportation, the metro network is also a vast art gallery with countless works, including wall paintings, installations, stained glass windows and sculptures. The transport department Société de transport de Montréal, or STM for short, curates and maintains these works. Here we have a collection of the works which are also listed on the Montréal Map, new artworks will get added time by time.
