The Hongik University in Seoul is a renowned private academy, particularly known for its popular programs in art, design, and architecture. The education center attracts students from all over the world and enjoys a high reputation in the South Korean art and design scene. Founded in 1946, the main campus is located in the lively Hongdae district, a cultural center of the metropolis with numerous galleries, cafés, and live music venues. The Red Road in particular is a popular route where you can find numerous urban artworks. Also a lot of artists are based throughout the surrounding neighbourhood, as well there are ateliers and creative spaces. And the walls are accordingly decorated with colorful graffiti and streetart of course! Even though there is little to no graffiti in most of Seoul, the Hongdae neighborhood and especially the area around the university is richly decorated with urban art.
