Palma, or Palma de Mallorca, is the capital of the Balearic island of Mallorca and has around 425.000 inhabitants. The island is located in the western Mediterranean near the coast of Spain with the city of Palma on the west coast of the island in a bay. Worth seeing are the imposing 13th century Gothic-style La Seu Cathedral, the former Moorish fortress Almudaina Palace or the medieval castle complex Castell de Bellver in a circular shape. The popular vacation destination is best known for the party district of El Arenal, loved by many tourists but hated by the locals.
