On this subpage for MBAM, the Montreal Fine Arts Museum or Musée des beaux-arts you can find photos and information about the sculptural artworks inside the museum. This cultural oasis of all kind of creative works is located at 1339 Sherbrooke Street West in Downtown Montreal. Of course, this is only a small part of the interesting objects that the museum has to offer, and new interesting exhibitions are constantly presented here. Sculptures: NIKI DE SAINT PHALLE

Niki de Saint Phalle was a French-Swiss painter and internationally renowned modernist sculptor. In Germany, she became famous as an artist above all for her “Nana” figures, which were installed in Hannover in 1974 on the Leibniz Ufer, which is today part of the sculpture mile. She was born on October 29th in 1930 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France and died on May 21th in 2002 in La Jolla, California in the United States.


Sculpture: ALBERTO GIACOMETTI

Alberto Giacometti was a Swiss modernist sculptor, painter and printmaker who lived and worked mainly in Paris since 1922. He remained connected to his native Bergell mountain valley where he met his family and devoted himself to his artistic work. Giacometti was born on October 10th, 1901 in the village Borgonovo in Bregaglia in Switzerland an deceased on January 11th, 1966 in Chur in Switzerland.

Sculpture: SALVATORE ALBANO

Salvatore Albano was an Italian sculptor who was born on May 29th in 1841 in Calabria, Italy and deceased on October 13th in 1893 in Florence, Italy.


Painting: JACOB ABRAHAM CAMILLE PISSARRO – Sculpture: FRANÇOIS-AUGUSTE-RENÉ RODIN

The sculpture is from François-Auguste-René Rodin who was a French sculptor and draftsman. With him began the age of modern plastic and sculpture. He was born on 12th of November in 1840 in Paris and died on 17th of November in 1917 in Meudon in France. Jacob Abraham Camille Pissarro was one of the most important and prolific Impressionist painters. He is the progenitor of the Pissarro family of artists. Pissarro was born on 10th of July in 1830 in Charlotte Amalie on the US Virgin Islands and died on 13th of November 13 in 1903 in Paris.

Eric Fischl is a contemporary American realist painter, printmaker, and sculptor. He was born on 9th of March in 1948 in New York City.
