„Terre de Jeux – Sarajevo 1984 – Paris 2024“
In 2024 Paris and Sarajevo were making their mark on Olympic history: Paris was hosting the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games, while Sarajevo was celebrating the 40th anniversary of its Winter Olympic Games. This shared milestone offers the two countries – France and Bosnia and Herzegovina – an opportunity to jointly promote the many values embodied by sports: fraternity, sharing, pushing one’s limits, and inclusion, to name just a few.

The French Embassy and the Institut français were keen to take advantage of this historical coincidence to showcase Franco-Bosnian friendship through sports, from the start of the celebrations in Sarajevo on 8th February to the closing of the Paralympic Games in Paris on 8th September. It is in this spirit that this exhibition was created. In partnership with the Olympic Museum in Sarajevo, five series of photographs featuring Olympic champions were selected.

While the French photographers Adrien Selbert, Françoise Huguier, Magali Lambert, and Maia Flore subtly highlight not only athletic excellence but also the social commitment embodied by Arnaud Assoumani, Aya Cissoko, Marie-Amélie Le Fur, and Patricio Manuel, photographer Milomir Kovačević Strašni captures the incredible joy of ultimate victory – the echoes of which we still seem to hear forty years later.

This year in 2024, let’s celebrate the values of sport and make this shared Olympic event an opportunity for the French and the Bosnians – who share a European destiny – to grow even closer together. – Francuski Institut u BiH
