„Tribute to Eugeniu Carada“
Eugeniu Carada was an important Romanian economist, politician, and banker. He is considered one of the founders of modern Romanian finance and played a key role in establishing the National Bank of Romania in 1880, becoming its first governor. Carada was also politically active in the Liberal Party, advocated for economic reforms, and played a central role in promoting industry and trade in the young Kingdom of Romania. He is considered one of the pioneers of Romanian financial and economic policy in the 19th century. He was born on 29th November 1836 in Craiova, Romania, and died on 10th February 1910, in Bucharest.

The monument was originally created by French sculptor ERNEST HENRI DUBOIS. He designed and crafted the bronze bust and allegorical figures of the monument, which was inaugurated on 17th February 1924. The stone pedestal with reliefs was designed by Romanian sculptor DUMITRU MATAOANU. The original monument was destroyed after 1948, and today a reconstruction stands in its place at the National Bank Museum, recreated by Romanian sculptor IOAN BOLBOREA based on the original work.
