The Flex Hall of Fame is one of the first legal graffiti areas in Vienna and is located on the Danube Canal near Schottenring. This spot was created in the 1990s and has been legal since around 1994, when the city of Vienna opened up the area for legal graffiti art. The name “Flex” comes from the legendary techno and electro club “Flex”, which moved to the Danube Canal in 1995. This legal graffiti area is located near the Schottenring subway station. Other legal areas can be found on Obere Donaustraße between the Roßauerbrücke and Augartenbrücke bridges, on Nussdorfer Lände near Mooslackengasse, and on Roßauer Lände near the subway station exit. These various riverbank areas and promenade walls are open spaces and approved for legal spraying. But you can also find countless other graffiti on all the other walls, especially between Schwedenplatz and Urania – it’s a huge open-air gallery.
