Fantastic Urban Artist VODAWOTAH – Comic Style Portraits on Mural Scale
The artist MARTIN IVANOV, better known as VODAWOTAH, started with graffiti and streetart in 2008 in the Bulgarian city of Ruse. Meanwhile he lives in Vienna, Austria, where he regularly paints magnificent works on the Danube Canal and huge murals around the city or abroad. The colorful hobby has become a profession and he creates extensive commissioned works, but of course also continues to spray works as a passion funtime. His fantastic works often feature comic-style portraits, but also animal-like characters or lively spray cans.

The Universe of Everyday Objects – Deformatyons in Urban Space – HNRX
If you find street art murals consisting of comic sausages, bananas or cucumbers, then these food graffitis in pop-up style are most likely made by the fantastic Austrian artist HNRX. In his pieces are often the ordinary things of everyday life which he combines on the motifs in a surreal, funny but also thought-provoking way. However, it is not only limited to fruits, vegetables and food, toothbrushes or dentures are also great on house walls.

International Graffiti Symposium INDIGO in Vienna

From 14th to 16th June 2023 the international graffiti symposium INDIGO took place in Vienna and we were invited to present our Vagabundler project! In the meantime, the videos of the individual presentations are online, including the one of us. In addition, a book will soon be printed with more papers, essays and contributions from the participants, and we will also be part of it. INDIGO is a graffiti centred academic project funded by the Heritage Science Austria programme of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW). Check out the video and the report.

Hundertwasser House in Vienna – Austria’s Antoni Gaudi – Modern Abstract Architecture
An architectural, artistic and historical highlight of the Austrian capital Vienna that you should definitely have seen is the Hundertwasserhaus. The “somewhat different” building is a residential complex in Vienna built from 1983 to 1985 and was designed by the different-thinking artist and architect Friedrich Stowasser aka Friedensreich Hundertwasser, who lived from 1928 to 2000.

Vienna – Flex Hall of Fame at Danube River – Wienerwände Donaukanal
The Flex Hall of Fame is one of the first legal graffiti areas in Vienna and is located on the Danube Canal near Schottenring. This spot was created in the 1990s and has been legal since around 1994, when the city of Vienna opened up the area for legal graffiti art. The name “Flex” comes from the legendary techno and electro club “Flex,” which moved to the Danube Canal in 1995. This legal graffiti area is located near the Schottenring subway station. Several other legal areas can be found between Schwedenplatz and Urania, it’s a huge open-air gallery.
