Statue of Prometheus – Статуа на Прометеј
Another one of the many monuments not only in town, but especially in the Zena Borec Park, in English the Woman Warrior Park, is the prominent golden statue of Prometheus, which was created as part of the „Skopje 2014“ project. Across the street you can find the the Parliament building with interesting architecture. The statue depicts the selfless act of the Titan Prometheus bringing fire to humankind, originally naked but later adorned with a covering. When it was firstly presented completely naked it caused some problems, so they had to change it a bit with some cloth. The monument should symbolize progress, but the whole series of numerous statues around the city is a controversial element of the monumental urban redevelopment project in ancient styles. The statue itself is a stand alone object located in the middle of a fountain, but it is positioned as a entrance figure to the following horses gate and huge obelisk statue following to the east. On the floor architecture and pavement installation you can see the designed connection of those artworks.
