Tribute to Slavko Janevski  –   Споменик на Славко Јаневски

Slavko Janevski was a prominent Macedonian short story writer, novelist, poet, film screenwriter, essayist and painter. For many years he was a member of the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts and the Writers‘ Association of Macedonia. He belongs to the first generation of Macedonian writers after World War II, which laid the foundations of modern Macedonian literature. His novel „The Village Behind the Seven Ashes“ from 1952 is the first novel published in standard Macedonian. Janevski was born on January 11th in 1920 in Skopje and died there on January 20 in 2000. The statue in his honour was inaugurated in 2010, made by sculptor TOME SERAFIMOSVSKI, who lived from July 14th in 1935 till March 3rd in 2016 .
