Tribute to Dame Gruev – Даме Груев
Damjan Jowanow Gruew, known as Dame Gruew, was a Bulgarian-Macedonian teacher, revolutionary, founder, and member of the Internal Macedonian-Adrianople Revolutionary Organization. He was born on January 19th in 1871 in Smilevo, North Macedonia, and died on December 23rd in 1906 in Rusinovo, North Macedonia. Like most of the statues in the city, this one was erected with a horseman on a stone pedestal, and there are other emblems and scenic works of art on the pillar.
