Tribute to Skanderbeg
George Kastrioti, better known and famously popular as Skanderbeg, was a prince of the Albanian noble Kastrioti family and a military commander who served the Ottoman Empire from 1423 to 1443, the Republic of Venice from 1443 to 1447, and the Kingdom of Naples from 1451 until his death. He lived from May 6th in 1405, to January 17th in 1468. During his life, he fought and led countless battles and is considered a master of the art of war because, on the one hand, he was a strategically mastermind, but also he was also able to convince and motivate people, soldiers and those in power for his aims. The statue depicts him riding a horse on a high pedestal, the walls surrounding which are decorated with further sculptural works of art. An imposing monument for a great hero.
