Tamnougalt – Berber Art and Urban Creations in Nowhere

The small enclave of Tamnougalt is a Berber village with around 500 inhabitants near the small town of Agdz in the Draa Valley in southern Morocco. A normal tourist would never go there, in fact normally no one would go there at all. But this place is actually a small art gallery that no one knows about. On an old clay building complex a large number of works of art have been created over time. The mix of abstract art, portraits and graffiti together with the isolation in the Moroccan hinterland is simply magnificent.

Streetart Chefchaouen – Desert Art and Wall Paintings in Blue

Chefchaouen is a northern Moroccan city of about 45.000 inhabitants in the Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceïma region. The name means translated “two horns” and is due to the two mountain peaks of the Rif Mountains that can be seen from the city. You can find the color blue throughout the town in the form of murals and decorations. The artwork and color are said to protect against evil eyes and bad energy. The power of street art!

Tétouan – Graffiti and Urban Art Collection

Tétouan is a historically significant city not far from the Mediterranean coast of Morocco with around 400,000 inhabitants. The old town has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. The Berber name of the city literally means “eyes”. It also has the poetic nickname “The White Dove”. There are also some urban works of art in the streets, including Spanish soccer fan artwork.
