Il Geko della Vita – The Geko of Life
In November 2007, as part of the Contemporary Arts Turin Piedmont initiatives, at the MAUA-Museum of Urban Art, some murals made by various artists were officially inaugurated, including Via Ceres by MARCO BAILONE. Painter and muralist active in Torre Pellice, a town close to Turin, he seeks in drawing that game and that magic capable of giving shape and voice to sometimes monstrous characters, inserting sounds rendered graphically through the onomatopoeia typical of comics. This mural is part of a nucleus of works inserted in a historic building whose owners, convinced of the importance of art in their architectural context, have allowed its execution. “drawing is like a song in my head …” As in a fascinating kaleidoscope or in a complex visual puzzle, the characters of MARCO BAILONE become actors in a crazy screenplay, intertwining in a curious and amusing scenography made of psychedelic colors and continuous references to the sound. Two closed windows occupied by complementary and mirror works. A man and a woman distinguished by their respective symbols, the sun and the moon. those who look at his works are invited to dive without scupoli into the magical and joyful dimension of comics … and suddenly they will be swallowed in the belly of a colorful gecko that climbs sinuously on the walls of the Borgo. MARCO BAILONE, born in Carmagnola in 1973, deals with comics and also works in the world of publishing and advertising.
