GERMANY: Streetart Berlin – Haus Schwarzenberg – ART LOVERS INCORPORATED

Sprung in die Freiheit“  –  „Jump into Freedom

The artwork shows a jump of the GDR border guard „Hans Conrad Schumann“ to freedom on August 15, 1961 from East Berlin to West Berlin. Peter Leibing captured this great scenario. He  was a German photographer and lived from 1941 to 2008. His photo of the border guard „Hans Conrad Schuhmann“ jumping over the barbed wire is one of the best-known images of the Cold War and a media icon. His recordings were used as a template for the creation of this print art.
