„Monument aux Morts de Rauba-Capeù“  –  „Rauba-Capeù War Memorial“

The war memorial at Quai Rauba Capeau below the Castle Hill is dedicated to the 3,665 people from the city of Nice who gave their lives during World War I. On the plates around the sculptures you can find their written names. More names were added later after World War II and the colonial wars. The monument is 32 meters high and is carved within the rock. It was constructed from 1924 till 1927 by local sculptor ALFRED AUGUSTE JANNIOT after the design of local architect ROGER SÉASSAL, who lived from 14th November 1885 till 6th March 1967. The monument was inaugurated on 28th January 1928 by Marshal Ferdinand Foch Benedetti.
