In 2025 the urban art festival UNDER PRESSURE took place on 9th and 10th August, and this year, in addition to the annual jam, there was plenty more to celebrate! Because it marked the 30th edition of this awesome event! The festival was first held in 1996 and is considered one of the most long-standing, community-organized graffiti and hip-hop festivals in the world. The 30th anniversary edition brought together more than 150 artists, dancers, and performers. The focus was primarily on graffiti and streetart, but other elements of hip-hop culture, such as street dance, DJing, skateboarding, and workshops, were also part of the program.
A large part of the festival took place outdoors on Sainte-Catherine Street East, and its side streets, near the cultural and music club Foufounes Électriques. We marked the „UP Area“ with a colourd field on the Montréal Map, in those streets you will find a lot, mostly made during the festivals. However, the association and collective behind UNDER PRESSURE now also run the FRESH PAINT GALLERY, which hosted accompanying exhibitions and art events indoors. During the festival, over 100 urban artists created live murals and graffiti on walls and other surfaces, showcasing a variety of styles and techniques from the scenes. The program was rounded out by a 4×4 street dance battle, scratch sessions, skate contests, a children’s program, various vendor booths, and guided street art tours.
