CANADA: Streetart Montréal – Centre Sud – 1753 Rue Atateken – DANAÉ BRISSONNET

Relationship

A few years ago, Amherst Street, named after a high-ranking officer in the British Army, was renamed. Evidence of reprehensible and genocidal acts perpetrated against indigenous nations has been uncovered. The city then chose a Mohawk word meaning “Brothers and sisters” to rename the street and send a strong message to promote rapprochement between communities.

It is in this context that DANAÉ BRISSONNET painted her magnificent mural entitled “Relationship”. The mural represents the interconnections and rivalries present in the relationships between people and peoples. She reminds us that our relations are sometimes absurd and imbued with dualities. However, the goodwill and efforts of bringing together the younger generations can bring about hopeful changes.  –  Patrice Loranger

You can find another wonderful mural by DANAÉ BRISSONNET at 8833 Avenue André-Grasset in Ahunstic neighbourhood.
