CANADA: Streetart Montréal – Downtown – 1100 Boulevard René Lévesque Ouest – ROBERT ROUSSIL

Spaceship  –  Cactus modulaire

ROBERT ROUSSIL born in 1925 and died in 2013 is a Quebec sculptor who was often censored since his art was described as indecent by the authorities of a certain time in Montreal.

He studied at the school of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and he is one of the founders of Place des arts, an artists‘ center, ancestor of the current Places-des-Arts in Montreal.

His work is often described as humanist, both structural and abstract. From the end of the 80s, ROBERT ROUSSIL worked on the monumental and structural aspect of his creations. The modular Cactus sculpture which was made in 1986 is a good example of this desire.  –  Patrice Loranger
