Tribute to Gustavo Cerati
The highway construction in low level, “El Paso Bajo”, carried out on Francisco Beiró Avenue and the Urquiza railroad tracks, has four traffic lanes, two by hand, and a pedestrian crossing. This traffic complex was baptized Gustavo Cerati and therefore painted by artist MARCO HEIS with wonderful images of the famous singer. After a vote in which 177,594 residents participated, 68,438 chose to honor Gustavo Cerati, the late leader of Soda Stereo, while that 60,247 favored Carlitos Balá, and 48,909 did so for Julio Cortázar.
With the authorization of the singer’s sister, Laura Cerati, and the participation of her niece, Guadalupe Mujica Cerati, the cover arts of her records were adapted to a mural, incorporating the patterns and textures of her discography, as well as portraits proposed by the family. The 55years old Argentinian rock star Gustavo Cerati died in Buenos Aires after a four-year coma in on 4th September in 2014. With this wall he and his creations will always stay remembered.
Something similar had happened previously with the work inaugurated on Avenida Congreso and the former Miter railroad tracks, which was named after an illustrious neighbor of Villa Urquiza: Luis Alberto Spinetta. – City of Buenos Aires
This artwork was created in the district of Agronomía in the province Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires in 2019. It is located at Avenida Francisco Beiró 2459 with the GPS coordinates -34.59219, -58.48926.
