Daisy Sweeney
This great artwork created by Kevin Ledo is a tribute to Daisy Sweeney and to the Golden Age of jazz in Montreal. The music teacher Sweeney was born in Montreal in 1920 and her students included Oliver Jones, Ken Skinner, Joe Sealy, Reg Wilson and her brother Oscar Peterson! At that time, it was the golden age of the little Burgundy the neighborhood of Montreal that concentrated the black people population and, as well, a lot of great Jazz musicians. Almost nothing has survived from this period in the neighborhood, but, sometimes, you can still feel a few musical notes floating around. – Patrice Loranger.
