BRAZIL: Streetart Santana do Livramento – Urban Art in Border Town to Uruguay

Santana do Livramento is a city in southern Brazil, located in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, with a population of around 80.000 inhabitants. Founded in 1823, it developed as a frontier settlement and played an important role in the border region between Brazil and Uruguay. The city is uniquely connected to its Uruguayan twin city, Rivera, forming an international urban area without physical barriers, where people can freely cross the border. Historically, the region was shaped by cattle ranching and trade, as well as by its strategic importance in territorial disputes during the 19th century. Today, Santana do Livramento is known for its cultural blend of Brazilian and Uruguayan influences. Notable sights include the Praça Internacional, a symbolic square that straddles the border between the two countries, or the Parque Internacional, as well as streetart and graffiti around town. The following photos were photographed by world traveller CHRIS AMES. We just started the page with a few photos, if you also have pics of urban art from here, send them to info@vagabundler.com.
