Béziers is a city in southern France with approximately 81.000 inhabitants in the Occitanie region. Worth seeing are the 13th-century Gothic cathedral Cathédrale Saint-Nazaire, the Plateau des poètes with sculptures and monuments, and the spectacular lock system “Les 9 Écluses de Fonseranes” on the Canal du Midi with nine lock gates connected in series, a fascinating example of historical engineering and a popular place to watch the ships. Trompe-l’œil – In Memory of Honoré d’Estienne d’Orves – A-FRESCO
Henri Louis Honoré d’Estienne d’Orves was a French naval officer. He is considered the “first martyr for a free France” and a hero of the French Resistance. He was born on 5th June 1901, in Verrières-le-Buisson and died on 29th August 1941, in Fort Mont-Valérien.
