The port city of Sète on the Mediterranean coast of southern France is the third-largest city in the Hérault department in the Occitanie region, with a population of around 45,000. Places of interest include the Théâtre de la Mer in a former fort, the Paul Valéry and Espace Georges Brassens museums, the historic Canal Royal with its town houses, and the 183-meter-high Mont Saint-Clair with its chapel and spectacular 360-degree view of the city, the Mediterranean Sea, and the oyster beds of the Étang de Thau lagoon. The city also offers an extensive collection of urban art at the MUSÉE À CIEL OUVERT, or MACO for short. Since 2008, more than 25 large murals and many smaller works have been created here as part of the K-LIVE art festival. Here we have photographs taken by SIEGLINDE SPEICHERT.
