Goran Stefanovski was a leading Macedonian playwright, screenwriter, essayist, lecturer, and public intellectual. He was born on April 27th in 1952 in Bitola, south of Skopje, and died on November 27th in 2018 in Canterbury, United Kingdom. He wrote for theater, television, and film and pursued a long academic career as a teacher of creative writing. Stefanovski is considered an idol and famous historical figure in the country; various works of art have been created in his honor in the city, including this metal sculpture of him sitting on a bench.
