„Cadran Solaire“ – „Sundial“
On the viewing platform at Quai Rauba Capeu, there is an interesting sundial on the ground that can be used to tell the time. On the three metal plates inserted into it, you will find information about its use, but also about its inauguration on June 21st 1981 and its exact geographical position at 43°41’22“ north latitude and 29m 11s east longitude. The sundial was created by three people, including the well-known astronomer BERNARD MILET, who carried out the calculations for the correct measurements and functioning. The artist P. FÉVRIER created the structure and design and the ceramist and sculptor ROGER CAPRON artistically created the dial.
„Sundial – The solar time determined by the shadow of the head of a 1m70 observer, placed on the rosette, must be corrected according to the date by the number of minutes indicated on the graph.“
