Mirissa is one of the hot spots for the surf community in the country and a popular tourist destination. The town is not large, but certainly consists of a few bigger hotels, as well as many smaller hostels and guesthouses. Due to the location of the fine sandy beach, the sea is perfect for swimming and the conditions of the bay with the waves in the deeper water are ideal for starting to surf. It’s probably a bit boring for pros, but a dream location for surfing enthusiasts who want to get started or have a chilled-out time. A good mix between surfing and relaxation.
You should definitely visit the little headland Parrot Rock with its beautiful viewpoint, the Coconut Hill on the coast or in short distance inside the land there is the beautiful lake Garadu Gaga. Otherwise, it’s all about having a good time. Visitors from all over the world come to Mirissa, and of course including many creative artists from the field of graffiti, which is why you can see really a lot of cool pieces on the walls here. Western-style graffiti with letters, because mostly you tend to see figurative murals on the island. Here in Mirissa there is a comparatively large amount of graffiti, made by sprayers from around the globe who do holiday here. It is a super interesting gallery and you can find works from many years ago as well as fresh ones, and there will certainly always new pieces coming.
