CANADA: Streetart Montréal – Villeray – 490 Boulevard Crémazie – Crémazie Metro Station – GEORGES LAUDA, PAUL PANNIER & GÉRARD CORDEAU

Le poète dans l’univers

Here is a beautiful mural inside the Crémazie métro station which was made by the artists GEORGES LAUDA, who does multidisciplinary art, PAUL PANNIER, who is a ceramist and GÉRARD CORDEAU, who is a sculptor. The artwork was made out of ceramic and whrought iron in 1968 and is titeled „Le poète dans l’univers“ which means in English „The poet in the universe“. The work of art is intended to be a tribute to poetry and the poets who animate it and bring it to life. It includes extracts from poems by three important Quebec poets: OCTAVE CRÉMAZIE, SAINT-DENYS GARNEAU and ÉMILE NELLIGAN. The work evokes the solar system and its planets and is punctuated with signs of the zodiac.  –  Patrice Loranger
