Tribute to architect Phyllis Lambert
Phyllis Lambert is a world-renowned Quebec architect. In 1975, she founded the Heritage Montreal organization dedicated to the preservation of Montreal’s built heritage. In 1979, she also founded the Canadian Center for Architecture which is still established in Montreal. Over the years, Phyllis Lambert has carried out several large-scale projects in New York, Los Angeles and Toronto. She also participates in heritage development projects in Montreal. Let us cite the repair and redevelopment of the Lachine Canal.
Ms. Lambert also plays an important civic role. She takes a position on various Montreal and Quebec issues always with the objective of preserving cultural and architectural heritage. Knight of the Order of Quebec, Companion of the Order of Canada, Governor of the Order of Montreal, Ms. Lambert, aged 96, is a great Quebec builder. The beautiful mural was created by the artist MELISSA DEL PINTO based on observational drawings by DINU BUMBARU, the policy director of Héritage Montréal. – Patrice Loranger
