Hommage à Riopelle
Jean-Paul Riopelle was a painter, engraver and sculptor from Quebec, born in 1923 and deceased in 2002. He moved to Paris in 1947 to work and frequented the surrealists, in particular André Breton. A master of abstraction, his spatula impasto techniques are famous. Signatory of the Refus global manifesto, Riopelle is a key figure in contemporary art in Quebec. His international reputation makes him one of our nation’s greatest artists. – Patrice Loranger
