SWEDEN: Streetart Gothenburg – Inom Vallgraven – Stora Badhusgatan 6 – RUSKIG – PÄRRA VON ANDREASSON

Singlar  –  Singles

This series of artworks are named “Singlar” or in English “Singles” and have been created by the artist PÄRRA VON ANDREASSON aka RUSKIG. He said about the artworks: “These people live nearby. They are looking for a partner. They are not alone. Think how lucky we are amongst 7,674,784,822 people in the world. No one needs to be alone. What will our relationships look like in the future? How to meet us? How do we live together? Everything is changing right now. Here, in Gothenburg, it’s an exciting time. And in the rest of the world too.”

PÄRRA VON ANDREASSON works with the Hip Hop music of SVENSK FOLKHEM, which is communicative, social and deals with contemporary issues. PÄRRA is single, a middle-aged artist and lives in Malmö. In connection with the exhibition “Who’s Afraid of Red, Yellow and Blue?” he did the mural “Ruskig Ångest” at “Blå Stället” in Angered in 2002. He did the large mural “Sweden” at Röda Sten in 2003, where he was also the artistic director of the exhibition Everwanting Streets in 2004. He has also worked educationally in collaboration with Röhsska The museum, Valand School of Art and the Gothenburg City Library.  –  Info Sign by the City of Gothenburg

The artist PÄRRA VON ANDREASSON was born and raised in Uppsala and belongs to Sweden’s first Hip Hop generation through his painting. PÄRRA calls himself a graffiti artist and as such he has worked in many contexts both within the country and internationally. His works are represented in the public domain and some recognize several, for example the work “Objectivity”, which was the starting shot for Slussen’s redevelopment in Stockholm in 2015 or his popular stamps Vill Se Dig from 2008.

In 2017, his work “VilaIFrid” in Fittja was redebated in the media. He has created the character “Ruskig Ångest” who thinks and comments in various contexts. Not infrequently, his works touch on current issues within the social, religious and political spheres. He stands out in his generation of artists through his strong pedagogical commitment, but above all for all collaborative processes he initiated and carried out. During 2023, PÄRRA works, among other things, as the artistic director of CFUK, the Centrum För Urbankonst, with the aim of starting a unique international Urban Art Hall in Malmö.  –  PÄRRA VON ANDREASSON
