“Masterna” – Tribute to the Mast Cutters of Masthuggets District
The inscription says: “Masthugget was first mentioned in 1647 and mast cutters have worked here for 200 years”. The sculptor ERLING EMIL TORKELSEN cut and designed these poles in 1971. The artist was born on 27th February 1919 in Stavanger, Norway, and died on 7th November 1987 in Gothenburg, Sweden.
