„Nacionalna Klasa“ – Part Two – 2024
METOD about the artwork: „And of course, who is that city face, legendary character, smacker and luudo driver, Floyd, Floyd, Floyd… The main duo of the film, Gaga as Floyd and his crazy Zastava Fi?a. This side of the work was done in stages and was a challenge in itself, how to combine the composition to have an effect when viewed up close, and to be effective from a distance, while still being photogenic. Anyway, I really enjoyed painting this work. Again, many thanks to Ana and Gabriela for their trust, as well as for the kind words and support of the neighbors and tenants of the building. P.S. I just had to insert a speech bubble with part of the replica. Enjoy the work and feel free to write me your impressions, and of course I recommend seeing the work live.“ – METOD
For a very long time, Fi?a has been one of the most popular cars in the former Yugoslavia. On 18th October 1955, the „Zastava“ company from Kragujevac in Serbia officially began manufacturing the „Zastava 750“, or the popular „Fi?a“, under the license of the Italian company Fiat. That year, Zastava began assembling the first batch of 1.000 cars a year, which was Zastava’s maximum production capacity. Fiat was able to produce 1.000 vehicles a day. The production line for the popular Fi?a closed on 18th November 1985. Still, there are frequent gatherings of fans of this car even today when Fi?a is a really rare sight on the streets. The car even played a prominent role in a famous Yugoslav movie from 1979 called ”Nacionalna Klasa”, made by Goran Markovic with the actors Dragan Nikolic, Bogdan Diklic and Gorica Popovic. – Zastava 750 Fica
