Tribute to Milutin Milankovi?
Milutin Milankovi? was a Yugoslavian civil engineer, mathematician and geoscientist. Milankovi? achieved great fame in Quaternary research and palaeoclimatology in 1920 through the calculation of the Milankovi? cycles. He also founded the new calendar of the Orthodox Church. He was born on 28th May 1879 in the town of Dalj in Croatia and died on 12th December 1958 in Belgrade. In 2011 city decided to erect in this park a monument to Milankovi?, but it took a while and finally on 26th June 2017 the great sculptural art by Serbian artist ZORAN IVANOVI? got inaugurated. The pedestal is encased in marble and around one meter tall. The statue is made out of bronze and has a height of about 3 meters. In the park live several animals and so some additional landmarks by birds got added on the sculpture.
