The Belgrade Reader Project, in Serbian „Beogradski čitač“ and in Cyrillic Београдски читач, is the name of a series of sculptures that were realized in 2014 as part of an initiative by the writers Prof. Dr. Dr. Gordana Pešaković, Gordana Vlajić and the journalist Tanja Šikić. The most famous is certainly the reader sitting on a swing in Čuburski Park in the Vračar district. In 2016, the first „Belgrade Readers“ literary marathon was also held here on April 22 and 23 to mark World Book Day, during which poems and prose works by various authors were read for 24 hours without interruption.
„Books are precious since one who reads can illuminate the mind, enrich the herart and beautify the nature.“
