BAHAMAS: Streetart Nassau – East Down Mural Project & National Art Gallery Urban Creations

Nassau is the capital of the Bahamas, was founded in 1656 and has around 250,000 inhabitants. The archipelago consists of around 700 islands and cays, but only around 30 of them are inhabited. Nassau is located on New Providence, which is the twelfth largest island and is connected to the neighboring Paradise Island via a harbor bridge. This Caribbean paradise is known for its beautiful beaches, idyllic arts and coral reefs, which are very popular with divers. The old town with buildings from the British colonial era, Prince George Wharf and Forts Charlotte and Fincastle are well worth a visit. There is also plenty of urban art in the streets and the NATIONAL ART GALLERY OF THE BAHAMAS in particular has created several murals here. The EAST DOWNTOWN MURAL PROJECT by the TOURISM DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION is also interesting and regularly adds new works to the cityscape. Here is a collection of photos by ANITA MAURER. If you have your own photos of street art and graffiti from the Bahamas, please send them to info@vagabundler.com and we will add them to the page.
